HOWTO: Windows: Using your keyboard media keys with Itunes
I'm enjoying my Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard, it has a lovely positive key response and is a pleasure to type on, although I'm still adjusting from 2 years using a laptop keyboard.
Anyway, the media keys (play, pause etc) wouldn't work with iTunes unless iTunes had window focus. I found a solution that will probably work for most keyboard but I've only tested it on the G15. You need to download mmKeys.dll from this forum post (unfortunatly you'll have to register first) and place the file in the iTunes plugin-Ins folder (usually C:\Program Files\iTunes\Plug-Ins\ or in Vista C:\Users\###USERNAME###\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins\). Restart iTunes and your media keys should work.
As far as I can tell the dll file was written by a developer at aquasoft.org. The original forum post is titled Global Multimedia Keys.
