HOWTO: Vista: Unblocking startup programs
Vista has some built-in protection that prevents you from running programs that need administrative privileges at startup (login). It also blocks some other programs from running until you approve them using Windows Defender. This doesn't work with privileged programs though. There is a good work-around available. Basically you schedule a task that runs on startup or login. The task scheduler allows you to set that task to run with administrator privileges. Detailed instructions can be found in a post at blog gerke-preussner de entitled Unblocking Elevated Startup Programs in Vista.
